The Art of Nails — Terms & Conditions

These Terms apply to services provided at any of our four AON salons (Albany, Ponsonby, Commercial Bay, Newmarket). Urban Beauty Services Ltd (NZBN: 9429053416780) is the operating entity for AON, trading as The Art of Nails. Your use of our services constitutes acceptance of these Terms.

Bookings and payment

Bookings can be made online through our booking platform (Fresha), by phone, or in person at any of our salons. Payment is taken at the time of service. We accept EFTPOS, credit card and contactless. Credit card payments incur a 3% surcharge in-store. Online payments via Fresha may incur a card processing fee at standard rates.

Service guarantee

We stand behind every service we deliver. If you're not happy with the result, please tell us as soon as possible — we will offer to fix the issue free of charge first. A re-do is typically offered within 5 business days of your original service, subject to reasonable nail growth, wear, and condition.

Refunds and credits are offered at the discretion of the Salon Manager where a re-do isn't appropriate or hasn't resolved the issue. Your statutory rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 are not affected by this policy.

Cancellation policy

If you need to cancel or reschedule, please give us at least 24 hours' notice — by phone, email, or through our online booking platform. For group bookings of 3 or more, please give us 48 hours' notice. Group bookings cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice may not be eligible for a deposit refund.

No-show policy

If you don't arrive for your booked appointment without notice, we may charge the full price of the booked service, as it is unlikely we'll be able to fill the slot at short notice. Repeated no-shows may result in a booking deposit being required for future visits.

Lateness policy

Please arrive 5 minutes before your appointment to check in and choose your colour. If you're running late, please call us — if you arrive more than 5 minutes late we may have to shorten your treatment, and if you arrive more than 10 minutes late we may need to reschedule your booking. In that case we may charge for the original treatment as if it had been delivered.

Group bookings

We require a 50% deposit for bookings of 3 or more people. Deposits are non-refundable if a group booking is cancelled with less than 48 hours' notice.

Gift cards

Gift cards are valid for 6 months from the date of issue. They are not redeemable for cash. To extend an expiry date, please contact us in advance — we reserve the right to extend gift cards at our discretion. Gift cards should be presented to reception on arrival. If you fail to attend a booked appointment paid for by gift card, a full or partial deduction from the gift card's value may apply.

AON Rewards (loyalty programme)

AON Rewards (formerly Platinum Rewards) is our loyalty programme — earn $10 in points for every $100 spent, redeemable across all AON salons against services and retail. Points do not accrue on AON Members' Programme subscription fees or on services delivered under your Membership; retail purchases continue to accrue points while you're a Member.

AON Members' Programme

The AON Members' Programme is a separate monthly subscription with its own terms, see below. Where these general Terms and the Members' Programme Terms differ on a matter relating to a Member's subscription, the Members' Programme Terms prevail.

Allergies, sensitivities and nail health

Please tell us if you have any allergies, skin sensitivities, infections, or if you are pregnant before your treatment begins. We may decline to perform a treatment where we believe it could pose a risk to your health or the integrity of your nails. We are not liable for adverse reactions or outcomes where relevant information was not disclosed to us at the time of booking or before treatment commenced.

Our products

We aim to use the best professional products available — preferring vegan, cruelty-free, and toxin-free formulations where these are equal or better in quality. We use professional-only systems chosen for performance, safety, and long-term nail health.

Children

Children under 16 are welcome with parental or caregiver consent for the service being provided. A parent or caregiver must accompany any child under 12 throughout their visit.

Photography and content

From time to time we may photograph the results of our work for use on our website, social media, or marketing materials. If you do not wish your hands or feet to be photographed, please tell us before your appointment — we will respect your wishes without question.

Privacy

We collect and handle your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020 and our Privacy Policy at theartofnails.co.nz/privacy. Our booking platform (Fresha) holds your account, booking history, and any card-on-file payment information; Fresha is our data processor for this purpose, and Fresha's data is held in Australia. By making a booking or signing up to our communications you consent to your information being handled by us and by Fresha for these purposes.

Complaints

If you have a concern about any aspect of your visit, please raise it with the Salon Manager at the time, or as soon as practicable afterward. If we can't resolve it together, please email hello@theartofnails.co.nz. Any matter we cannot resolve directly may be referred to the Disputes Tribunal (for claims up to NZ$30,000) or the Auckland District Court. Nothing in these Terms limits your rights under any consumer protection law, including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986.

Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The current version is always published at theartofnails.co.nz/terms-conditions. Material changes will be notified by website notice and (where relevant) by email or SMS at least 14 days before they take effect.

Governing law

These Terms are governed by New Zealand law.
